Sigonyth on Hold New Desert team would like to inform all interested parties that "Sigonyth: Desert eternity" project has been put on hold.
This situation is a result of lack of investors to fund further project
development - we have reached stage when continued development of an
MMORPG without financial support is simply unfeasible.
We would also like to emphasize that "Sigonyth" will not be
completely abandoned - we will continue to develop the design part of
the game and await changes on the market that will allow us to revive
the project.
We would like to sincerely thank every person that shown interest in
this project for all the comments, ideas and support during last three
years. For all our commited fans (but not only them) we present a last
few samples of our work from tests commenced at the beginning of this
year.

Concept ArtistsNew features of Ambra engine We have published a description of new features which our programmers have implemented in Ambra engine on Sigonyth's homepage. We invite you all to visit Sigonyth web site : www.sigonyth.com. New MMORPG engine - Ambra Recently we have made some changes to the platform on which we planned to develop Sigonyth and Zoltharia. Specifically we have change the engine from 2D to an entirely 3D one.
A change so big half a year after project launch may be a surprise but the decision was made on a very solid grounds:
a 2D game requires creating great numbers of high-res high-poly count graphics, much more time and resource consuming than low-poly count graphics used in 3D games.
due to memory constraints the locations in a 2D game have to be kept small which hampers the openness of the world.
2D engine greatly limits the number of animations so important for a MMORPG in our new engine we plan to have several times more animations (for every character!) than before.
3D graphics allow us to create a more realistic and bigger game world with bigger locations, sometimes encompassing entire cities.
More information on new engine, it's abilities and what is already done can be found on Sigonyth and Zoltharia web pages.
New look Thanks to eltoro you can view our team page with a new layout. As of yet not everything works as it should, but soon all the links from the old page will work again. A 7 mile step From February 23rd 2003 our engine has built-in Lua script quest creation system. I have added object (obstacle) sorting and object collision. As of
today we have engine 50% complete and realease is approaching fast. Lua in NDE2D engine Since February 17, 2003 our enging has built-in support for Lua scripting language. Needles to say, it was practicaly a requirement and it definetly brings us closer to releasing the engine to the public. We are also mentioned on Lua user list on it's developer page. Update on engine status
There is an updated list of game engine features in validated area. Changes in the engine
Yesterday I have modified our network code. When we login as a client, the engine performs login procedure and adds new objects to game. I have also developed simple, and as it looks working, server-clinet communication protocol that enables moving characters by issuing special commands. You will find more information in validated area. Chat in MMORPG network engine
Yesterday I have added chat to the network engine. Currently you can enable chat mode in-game and talk to other user. Sadly, I won't be uploading this to the server as I must wait for new graphics from our artists. But if everything proceeds at current pace there will soon be an alpha with enhanced engine.
Unfortunately at home I could only talk with myself but it proved to be rather interesting :-). |
